ABI IS 18 MONTHS OLD | ASHEVILLE BOTANICAL GARDENS | 18 MONTHS MILESTONE

I have mentioned it before in my blog, but it is worth stating again… I actually started photography with the idea of taking pictures of my family and saving money with not having to hire a photographer for every milestone. If you didn’t already know, I lost my mom when I was 13 and I don’t have a lot of pictures of her, let alone pictures of me with her. The ones I have are scattered and weren’t well taken care of. Photography became somewhat of an obsession of mine in 2009 and I didn’t really know what to do about it. I took some classes and invested in a digital camera and the rest is history. When my first child was born I had already launched a small business but it wasn’t really taking off then. I bought more and more professional equipment and I always came back to the idea that if nothing more, I would know how to take really good pictures of our growing family.

In recent years, I have not been pushing the business side of things as much. I still love working. I really do but in this bust mom season I really enjoy photographing my precious girls. Abi just turned 18 months old and we went outside for a lovely little session to highlight her right now. This girl is growing up so fast! Her features have changed a lot and she is a lot more active than she was 6 months ago. In fact, we went to therapy for a bit since she still wasn’t walking. It was a game changer for Abi. She is very fearful of things she doesn’t know or whenever she gets hurt. She scooted a lot and then began pulling up, but cruising was not happening and walking really wasn’t happening so we started going to some therapy sessions. I am so glad we did! It not only helped her but it gave me peace of mind. Abi is walking like a champ now and she is getting into e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g!

Here is my precious Abi. She loves to be outside. She always has. Winter had been too cold for us to go out but the sun has been coming out here and there so we’ve enjoyed park days and a few picnics.

There was a water area below here and she was very curious. She wanted to climb the fence.

This girl loves to walk. It was incredible to watch her learn as it was such a long time coming. She lights up when she learns a new skill and of course she loves verbal praise. We were playing chase here and she was giggling. I love her!!!

She still falls quite a bit but she gets right back up. Abi has a really strong personality. She is sweet and smiles but she is also strong willed and can be a bit of a pistol. She throws tantrums here and there, always about important things like why she can’t have the banana she dug out of the trash that I previously tried giving her but she spit out. Yeah, that was today. For real though, this girl gives kisses and hugs, she adores her baby doll, she loves to pretend to read books, and she loves her family. She has a lot of love to go around.

You can almost hear her giggle here. Some people think she is always smiling, and while she smiles a lot, it is not all the time. I would say about 70% of the time she is happy. I’ll take it!

This is the face Abi makes when she isn’t smiling (and also not throwing a tantrum). I am so glad I captured this moment. She can be quite observant. My beautiful little girl who is growing up more and more every day.

I changed her outfit but she was not interested in playing with me or being still at this point. She also does not keep a bow in her hair so a lot of the time her hair gets right in her eyes. Ella was the same way. Abi won’t let me put anything in her hair… no bows, head bands, or pony tails. Oh, and she loves her muslin blanket just like Ella did. She cuddles it and wants it all of the time. We try for only at bed time, but she is sneaky and will go into her room and grab it any time she can.

This here, the chewing on nene is just like Ella did. Precious girls. I am surrounded by all things beautiful and lovely. We are never short on hugs and kisses or princess dress up.

Abi has a little bit of an overbite. I think its darling and I love her little toothy smile. Abi, you are getting so big and it has happened faster than I wanted it to. I remember when you were just a few weeks old. I remember all of the moments in the beginning when you were so tiny and fragile. Now you are bold, loud, and I couldn’t love you more. Mom and dad enjoy you every day. You greet daddy with the biggest smile when he comes home from work and you want my cuddles whenever you are hurt or sad. We have worked so hard on your walking and your talking. I am incredibly proud of you! Things will not be easy being the littlest of three girls, but you are tough. I love you, my fierce little smiley girl. God sure sent you to us just at the right time and I praise Him and thank Him for what a gift you are. You are our gift and I’ll never forget that. Hugs and kisses, little girl.
